My understanding is that easyJet has, thus far, placed very little in the way of crew facilities at DSA so a swift change back to MAN could be easily achieved.

I cant see it happening myself, LPL are due to recieve their 10th based aircraft shortly and they need places to use them.. This may change if they dont release any flights after december, i tend to think they're either going to announce more routes or perhaps cut some if they fail to produce during the winter. It would seem for the moment that easyjet are serious, they have just appointed a new commercial manager for Yorkshire.
When the figures come out for this month it will be a better sign of how the routes are doing, there has been only one day effected by the ash cloud afterall..

The AMS flight in May carried 4624 pax.
Assuming the flights operated every day of the month that is an average of 75 per flight. In a crude guesstimation that would be a LF of around 50% would'nt it?

Rumour posted on Pprune is that EZY are looking at basing three aircraft at DSA from summer 2011. Also posted however is that they are competing with BHX for this.

In contrast to that post, a poster called 'EZYdriver has posted this in reply...

Another post on Pprune called 'windshear12' has posted further information...
Sounds like rumours of the aircraft being used at MAN could have some weight to them...

An analysis of last months figures shows that at a time when expectations are high the AMS service, in particular, was probably unprofitable with a load factor of only 61.46%.In the case of BCN and PRG, where easyJet would normally be expecting a load factor of 90%, loadings are below that level...in the case of BCN @ 80.57% and PRG @87.86%. Overall, average load factor is something like 72%. Rumour has it that easyJet was offered a deal by DSA they "couldn't refuse"so less than average loadings could well be sustainable??

With all tgis talk of crewing problems, and a growing trend of neglecting UK airports in favor of European airports, where yields are supposidly better, then unless they want to maintain a small presence at DSA to cover Yorkshire then i dont see them staying.
It is worth pointing out that 'windshear12' had posted that EZY were moving in before anyone else did. This person seems to know their stuff. Could be that EZY have a break and come back? But i cannot see DSA becoming a fully fledged base.

Unfortunatelt its looking more and more likely that EZY will leave after the first week of January. Could they come back in time for summer 2011? Or could it be that it really was an agreement so Peel could seal the deal with VAS?

My contact tells me that DSA almost certainly offered easyJet a deal they couldn't refuse and that it doesn't "fit "with their current business plans...He also informs me that yields, which includes on board sales, are highest at LGW and MAN and that easyJet are likely to just fade out of sight from SY.

If they do go, there is next to zero chance of a replacement and i would suspect a big review into VAS plans for the airport in the future, perhaps more focus on the FBO/maintanance market?

this is all speculation at the minute. as for saying there is no chance of a replacement, i seem to remember pug saying it was KLM going to Donny before the announcement of easy. so who knows. we all have to wait & see

It has been announced in meetings that there are no plans for Doncaster. Load factors have been ok though they are not as good as required. Yields are far better elsewhere. Will they be back? Unless they suddeny get better forward bookings for the next few months i doubt it.

I believed KLM may have been going to Donny as someone posted on another forum that DSA had appeared in the KLM booking engine. I quickly blew that out of the water upon further investigation. I was also blasted over private message.
Of course the fate of easyjets DSA operations is open to speculation at the moment, but they will have to put their flights on sale soon to give the routes enough time to sell. They could of course 'dp a ryanair' and take a three month break and come back in April, but as people are suggesting, yields are'nt among the better performers and resources would be better put to use elsewhere. If that is true, and one of the biggest players in the low-cost market cannot make it work, who is going to step in? FR may do Gerona again, but AMS has hardly had the best average loads, and TOM already operate to PMI and FAO.
