It is good to hear the outcome of a real operational evaluation using the actual Southend parameters. There has been too much hot air talked on pprune by people who like to appear authoritative but in so doing only betray their lack of knowledge.
The A320 full payload radius of action, though stopping short of e.g.Greece and the Eastern Med, looks pretty useful, especially in the context of a w-pattern, where there is no advantage in flying longer sectors unless the operator is prepared to accept a crew change mid-rotation.
Of course not all A320s use the same engine variants, and differing thrust levels will affect the maximum takeoff weight from a performance limited runway, hence the full payload range is also affected. My guess is that this operator's A320s use the highest thrust level available.

From the Germania website:
Monday 3/9/12 ST2424 Erfurt-Southend , arrive SEN 0635 Tuesday 4/9/12 ST2424 Southend-Luton, depart SEN 0630 Tuesday 4/9/12 ST2425 Luton-Berlin TXL depart LTN 0815
Does anyone know what this is about ? And are the Germania/Ford SAW flights to resume, or were they always intended to be of limited duration ?

Apparently the inbound Germania 737 this morning was flying a pax charter from Erfurt, with four coaches taking the pax to their desination. It's overnighting and positioning into LTN tomorrow for a charter to TXL.
Now when did SEN last have a pax charter from Europe I wonder?

Just one small point of interest is that Blue Islands operated their JER-LCY-JER as JER-SEN-JER yesterday evening. It wasn't a diversion as such and I wonder if it came about as a result of Blue Islands perhaps having an unserviceability (the flight ran a couple of hours late) and having to use an aircraft not certificated for LCY's approach procedures. Nice anyway that they chose SEN rather than LTN or STN.

The Blue Islands S1718 JER-LCY-JER is operating to SEN again today: STA 1910. Presumably due to a similar problem in using LCY as was the case on Friday.

I'm sure it won't be, but Easyjet already have the SEN-AMS route sewn up.

KLM would be a very good to airline for SEN to get though for the onward connections they offer

Before going on holiday this weekend I thought I would mention that things still look favourable for another airline to be operating into SEN early next year. Please don't ask as I cannot say more than that.

That's a bit of a tease..... but good news nonetheless. Fingers crossed then. Maybe you could say what equipment they would be using? Then again. maybe you can't.
Have a great holiday. I hope you're going somewhere relaxing and refreshing.

I am not privy to any confidential information, but I will make a guess as to that airline's identity.
I'll let you know if I was right if and when it happens !
Expressflight deserves a good holiday after his perseverance in dealing with the trolls on pprune.
