Have you seen the report on travelmole re HUY being the top airport for inclusive tour flights, 59% the next was MAN on 37%,so top by a big %,the survey was taken at 8/10 airports in the UK, including MAN,LPL,Heathrow.Stanstead.and Gatwick, why don.t the travel companies 'T/C and TUI,look at these surveys, before dropping flights. It wasn't just tour flights we did well on. i'm sure AH will paste it on here for all to see.

Before DSA, HUY was the best selling airport for TUI.... Look at the way things have changed now. A new owner will hopefuly mean new incentives for operators like LS to compete with both DSA an EMA for pax back.
AH do you think that now there is more chance of LS being interested under new ownership due to them now being more diverse?
Such a shame it hadnt been on sale last year.

Clearly the attitude and airport fees of the new owner are important but to me the bigger issue is are Jet 2 looking to open new bases? And there has been no sign of that. Looking at their expansion next summer, most routes are once or twice a week (Just EDI-DUS excepted). Very cautious, no big expansion at one airport. To me that doesn't indicate there are looking to make a big investment in a new airport

Im not suggesting it has to be LS, the trend at the moment is obviously concentrating on keeping afloat. I suspect the main problem is securing an airline to run the charter routes after several charter airlines have either gone or may be going. This paired with the fact that MAG are, afterall, selling up and probably want to keep their loyal customer base at EMA (so not offering any real deals to airlines/operators) would suggest the dramatic loss in business.
My worries are that would such a loss look good when/if the new buyer wants to expand again? I think it would certainly make their job much harder.

Looking at mytravel.com, both the saturday Palma and the sunday Dalaman have returned to the booking engine having been removed over the last few weeks. DSA's Dalaman flight was also removed, but has now returned.

Flight times indicate a w pattern
Also worth noting that PMI is due to finish in mid September rather than end of October this year

Is the real problem with lost flights.at HUY.is the availability of aircraft, and once they are hopefully found, more flights will return,

It could be a factor but if there is so much excess demand for aircraft then surely it would be profitable for someone to meet some of the excess demand

Its quite obvious that the surviving airlines are consolidating, trying to sort the mess out and readjust to the new challanges ahead. Im not so sure how long that will take but i feel as though, after the sale goes through and the buyer wants to invest, HUY may be on more of a level playing field again.
I would be interested to know the inner workings of the team at HUY in charge of securing deals etc... The securing of XL a few years ago, i suspect, was not a major deal that cost MAG. The FR deal was part of a bigger deal at EMA at the time also. With the right investment i wouldnt be surprised of a return from TCX (also at Leeds) to play off TOM at DSA.
With over 1 million people withing 45 minutes of the airport (as John posted about pax from Doncaster using HUY) I still think there is enough to go around.
There are increasing businesses in the Humber region, along with the possible move of the UK trade corridor i think HUY will see at least double the business movements it has now. A link with SOU may happen also a German and Denmark link to support the shipping and offshore work respectively.
This may all seem way over the top but i still believe it is possible. With DSA proving it has no REAL market and the emerging economic force in Hull i would be surprised to see the airport worse off in 5 years time.

Las Palmas now moved to Monday and available from Mytravel.co.uk. Using Air Europa, arriving 11:25, departing 12:25, running until end of september at the moment, but the amount of flights in OCtober next year is now a little low if you check mytravels website, only Larnaca saturday running now!

A post on the DSA forums suggest a new owner may offer LS a better deal than MAG did 2 years ago. Anyone know much about said deal. I know this is hyperthetical and dont want to take this persons quote out of context.
I would hope that with their move into the charter market, and the lack of flights from HUY, that LS may start here in a couple of years? I dont think its too out of the question now that the charters have dwindled to less than half of what they were in 06.
