I guess it's a bit early in the airport's development to expect any new routes or increased schedules for summer 2011.

As far as I know it hasn't been possible to book the SEN-JER route at all this autumn on the Flybe website, it showing 'Full or Not Enough Seats' for every date. I spoke with Flybe 10 days ago pointing this out and they said the reason was that the flights "have not been verified as yet", so perhaps that is why SEN has now been (temporarily?)removed from the drop down menu. Are they perhaps concerned that the runway extension work could disrupt their operations next summer?

I think that is fairly normal for the flybe service. Last year it was not reliably on their website until 9th December (see the routes thread around post 77).
I am sure that any runway works will be tailored around the offering of services operating at the time they will happen. If there are daytime schedules, this would probably point towards night working for contractors.

I too contacted FlyBE about the Southend to Jersey flights next year and was told ' we are still reviewing the potential of the Southend to Jersey route, and anticipate making a final decision in the next two weeks.' Also they said, 'Flybe currently have no plans for any additional routes from Southend but we are continually evaluating potential routes for the future.' Despite the flights remaining popular last year, I think the real problem might lie in the travel companies who had blocked booked seats which were not sold last year, obviously wanting to reduce their commitment to number of seats or pulling out altogether. I also note that before the season was previously scheduled to run for two weeks shorter than last year.

In view of the fact that Flybe will be totally reliant on the runway extension being in place before commencing any new routes, you can be sure they won't be committing themselves until that is a certainty with a known opening date.
Their current 'official' position on any future plans for SEN is really what one would expect at this stage.

The SEN-JER flights are now bookable on the Flybe website.
The schedule gives an ETA SEN 11:10 with ETD SEN 11:35. Was this the schedule originally published before the flights were temporarily pulled?

Flybe have released their schedules for for next summer and it doesn't seem as though Southend will be flying... It has completely dissapeared off of the booking engine! This certainly is bad news for Southend if it turns out to be true!

Not all of the summer JER routes seem to be on the booking engine yet. I would have thought it unlikely that SEN-JER will operate next year in view of the easyJet announcement, but time will tell. It looks as if Jersey Travel will be using easyJet for example.

I've just been told by a normally impeccable source the surprising news that Flybe will operate a NQY-SEN service this summer.
Edit: Now officially confirmed by Flybe. The route will operate 3 x weekly from May through until September.
