When Jet 2 announced MAN-VCE/Kos/LPA they announced an extra B737-300 at MAN, If yesterday's announcement meant another based aircraft, I thought they would have said so in their press release yesterday

The press release states that the fleet at MAN will grow, but there are sufficient gaps in the current fleet schedule for these latest routes to fit in.
HUY is being kept waiting if indeed Jet2 do intend on starting there.
Regards

Contrary to my previous post, dont think it will be next season now, perhaps been put on hold wherever they intend on basing. A poster on Pprune who seems to be clued up on Jet2's scheduling has said that all space is pretty much full with scope for a few routes perhaps to be announced. Unless they pull an aircraft from elsewhere (which i find unlikely) then i think we may have been sailed down the river. Hope they prove me wrong though.

Think its going to NWI... To start in winter 2010 when more aircraft will inevitable become available. Not officialy announced yet but the airport have released it to the press so it must be advanced in talks or already going ahead

My first reaction is who would be crazy enough to start an operation like that in winter, especially in this economic climate!
Assuming it is Jet 2 (and I cant think of anyone else who it would be) then I guess its fingers crossed for 2011 as far as HUY is concerned

Ill still clutch those last remaining straws for something coming our way, afterall the 'deal' rumour must have come from somewhere, but i think everything is pointing against us now unfortunately.

A post on Pprune has suggested that the Dart Group Navajo visited NWI on monday again. Another poster says that Jet2 have a contract with a company at NWI regarding the spraying of aircraft this winter though... Perhaps thats where the rumour origionated?
However, the route map on the Jet2 website has now been updated, i thought they were hanging on to announce the new base, looks as though they have cancelled that plan however.

Looks like Jet2 gaining the 767's has been confirmed.
Jet2 are still talking to airports regarding the new base, NWI is one of them but so is HUY. Aparantly DSA has been ruled out completely according to a number of people...
If there is to be an announcement then we should keep checking the website as they could be put on there before the routes are announced.

An article in the August edition of Airliner World about Jet2 suggests that they are studying other potential bases across the UK...

As i posted earlier, Glasgow is going to be the next Jet2 base. So Jet2 can be ruled out again i think.

Jet2 is never going to happen for HUY now, they have missed their chance unfortunately. Looks like a base further south is being planned for 2012.

Hi
Heard from a very creditable source that Humberside may see some Jet2 action soon. Seen that some spare capacity has come free due to route loses and some capacity cuts the airline wants to better utilise the fleet and now that ryanair look interested in HUY I think they could be gunning for a kill. HUY would be the perfect place for this to happen at the moment, It gets them (ryanair) out before they get establish even more. Jet2.com/Jet2Holidays are both well know brands in this area so they should do quite good on certain Med routes. Anyway that’s all I’m going to say at the moment as it’s still just a rumour.
Hopefully HUY can pull this off.

The poster on pprune that works at HUY has suggested this in a post on there today. Hopefully the rumour is correct, though it has been mentioned alot before.
Just to add, the Jet2 website currently has a survey you can take part in. One of the questions is your prefered departure airport and it comes up a couple of times, so people may want to fill it in.
