I doubt they will be able to keep all those w patterns going, but there are options like SOU-NCL-JER-NCL-SOU or BHD-ABZ-JER-ABZ-BHD if needed as well as MAN-JER-XXX-JER-MAN or EDI-JER-XXX-JER-EDI for example. Maybe even a EXT-JER-BRS-JER-LTN-JER-EXT could be done. If they are profitable then Flybe could probably keep most of their Jersey destinations if they want too

The Sheffield Star was speculating, a few days ago, that DSA's service to Jersey may be one of the destinations culled by Flybe in their latest economy drive!

Further to the earlier discussion on Flybe's services from East Midlands Airport, it is interesting to compare their traffic figures on major hub routes with those of earlier years and also to compare the numbers with hub traffic at Humberside. In 2007, EMA had two hub routes ; Paris had 136,121 passengers and Amsterdam 131,698. A total of over 267,000. By comparison, HUY had Amsterdam with 137,061 passengers. In the meantime, a hub route to Frankfurt was developed at EMA and it carried 33,803 passengers in 2012, but has now closed. Flybe now only operate once a day from EMA to Paris and Amsterdam, with two rotations per day to Paris during the warmer months. They will do well to achieve 40,000 Amsterdam passengers and 60,000 on the Paris route in 2014. BY contrast, HUY might expect to attract 150,000 passengers to the Amsterdam and Copenhagen routes in 2014. As discussed previously, EMA has a much larger catchment area than HUY, so where are all their business passengers going? Some may be going no-frills point-to-point, but the intercontinental passengers must be using Birmingham, Manchester and Heathrow (and hopefully HUY).

I agree, however like I say, if the airport is to return to profit and capture it's natural market, then higher volume leisure is the key.
I'm hoping Mr Litten has noticed the muddle Peel appear to be in at MME, and how they've publicly shown Thomson the door there, it should open up the door for business talks with HUY. Afteral, if they can do that at MME, there's nothing stopping them at DSA....
Interesting comparison with EMA, I expect if KLM were to announce more UK airports then EMA would be on the list again..

Flybe have revealed their revised network - following on from the base closures. Jersey Looks like HUY-Jersey has escaped the chop, and is still on sale, although a fair few Jersey flights have been dropped, including Bristol (Year round), plus summer only routes to Belfast City, Isle of Man, Luton, and Newcastle. LBA will also loose its Southampton service in January. Full press release here: www.flybe.com/corporate/media/news/1312/04.htm

Good to see Humberside has so far kept its weekly summer only Jersey route along with Teeside and Doncaster, But it has been suggested that there maybe more possible route cuts to be announced by flybe.

Just been informed by a friend that Flybe Aircraft could be an Embraer E75 this season. Must be selling well because isn't that an increase on seats from the Dash??

Shame BE's new sun routes from NWI/EXT couldn't have been replicated from HUY again. Their last run was a success by all accounts.
Anyone know if someone else has been appointed in the commercial development role now PL has left?

Flybe will be looking for a superb deal from airports no doubt. The E195 do not fit their revised, core business strategy so they need to find a use for them that turns in a profit at very minimum risk - hence their Project Blackbird. I understand this Project has been looking at various options for while. Reading some of the articles on the web it seems that investors are keen that all these under-utilized assets (i.e.E195)are put to work making a profit ASAP.
An opportunity for Humberside? Who knows, because since PL went we don't get any hints or optimistic up-date tweets to give us a clue.

Thinking this Flybe issue through it seems they are looking for airports (or a group as in Exeter and Norwich) that can offer a good deal to sustain business for one or more E195 all year round for a number of years. HUY at a disadvantage in not being part of a group to share such a commitment and, perhaps, being too small a catchment to keep a 195 in the air all year round by itself. Cardiff, as a lone airport, have taken on 2 but it serves a bigger catchment than HUY. Rumour on another forum that LBA might also get 2.
