Klm website shows Eastern's flights start this Sunday with full daily schedule starting Monday 1st. I’m sure I saw an Eastern 170 routing AMS-HUY yesterday, was this a last minute replacement for the one KLM cancelled due to forecast high winds in Amsterdam?

Think it was just operating a return charter from AMS to LPL as it looks like it departed from the GA terminal at AMS on FR24.
Let’s hope Eastern manage to get organised and offer a reliable service for KLM…

It’s not exactly got off to a great start, with delays across the network including today’s into HUY arriving an hour late. I’m not one to pan a local airline, but they tend to leave a mess and bad taste behind when they’ve been involved in other operations in the past. Aurigny said they would never use them again! I just hope this isn’t managed decline by KLM, I appreciate that the service by KLM themselves has been unreliable recently, but you’ll lose valued customers if you let the rot set in.

The KLM booking engine is currently showing Eastern Airways operating the Humberside route up to and including Friday 31st May. From Saturday 1st June, the operator is showing as KLM Cityhopper. Teesside is showing a change of operator on the same date.

The punctuality of the Amsterdam route has really declined since Eastern took over. Does anyone have any insight into why that might be? Is it slot related? Crewing?
The PM flights just seem consistently badly delayed. I really hope this doesn’t affect the route long term.
Kind regards

Kind regards Permit123 They’re trying to do too much unfortunately with limited crew and aircraft. Maybe they had no choice, but it does signal a bit of a hierarchy of priority with LBA seeing KLM and German Airways aircraft used on the route but HUY and MME is all Eastern with their dire track record. Signal that KLM maybe see them as a burden these days? Hope not, but it’s not going to have a positive affect on customer confidence, particularly if it means people missing connections which is what most people use it for.

Punctuality at both HUY and MME has been poor recently for a variety of reasons, some of which can be ascertained.
At MME, the E170 seems to have gone tech on a couple of occasions. Strong winds at Schiphol have caused cancellations and delays notwithstanding the large number of runways available. There is the ongoing AMS slot problem. The KLM timetable is very tight during the day and does not allow time for recovery until the evening. Ironically a punctual late evening arrival is less crucial than timely departures.
Sometimes there has been a punctual arrival at HUY followed by a delayed departure. Could this have been caused by crewing problems or AMS slot availability?
Could there be an interface problem between the KLM and Eastern despatch procedures?
If Eastern have a crewing shortage and KLM have an aircraft shortage, why don't KLM re-configure the lease to make it less wet? As the aircraft are Embraer E series, they could surely be crewed by KLM.
